Confusion prevails

Our focus of the summer is July 7. It's our first time playing the Middle East Downstairs, a big venue that we've wanted to play for a long time. And we put in our time to earn the spot, and finally, we're not only playing it, but headlining it. So we're psyched. Kids are coming from across the country to this show. We're brainstorming how to make it the party of the year.

Anyhow, it hasn't been without its stresses, though unintentional by all parties. We lost the initial opener, the club picked a new one, who we're happy about. But now there are concerns about draw after the other bands are playing close to the date. I personally trust everyone involved in the planning of this show enough that I believe it will be a total success. Our goal is to sell it out, and I honestly hope we do. I think it's a perfectly tangible goal, but we won't know until the date comes.

Anyhow, today I printed out these flyers and soon we shall canvass the city. The push begins now. Any ideas for how to make the show huge? We've got the Miller sponsorship, and a few ideas, but I need something big...

ashton kutcher lookalike contest! haha! jk

i suggest calling liz from fox 25 and making an announcement about it. maybe wbz too or any other tv networks that we have contact info for.

i see that you'll be having a radio appearance on wfnx already but how about calling in to talk on air to all the other fm radio station buddies in wbcn 104.1, wrbb 104.9, wamh 89.3, wchc 88.1, wers 88.9 and who ever else. Also, we can remind buddy bloggers, facebookers and myspacers to maybe put a flyer on their page too! i already put up the flyers on my page :)

how about a vegas theme? it is 7/7/7, it makes sense with the flyer. we could do some dress up stuff, i'm sure kier would be down for it. and there's a whole plethora of vegas staples to draw from (vegas elvis, sigfried and roy (i call it), wayne newton's orange skin, kicklines, etc). keep the suggestions coming.

oh MAN, vegas theme sounds incredible!! you could hand out cards or raffle tickets at the door and come up with some sort of prize?? (some free drinks, or reimburse them for paying to get in? i'm trying to think of cheap prizes) that way the crowd feels involved.

also, are you allowed to decorate the club? because i would have SO MUCH FUN decorating for a vegas theme.

also, just so im giving credit where credit is due, matt and a coworker initially came up with the idea of a vegas theme. im just brainstorming ways to kick it up a notch.

we can decorate a bit, i bet, just a bit. nothing crazy. we can do bigger prizes... we need to think of something. money isnt a huge problem for this.

okay i can't stop thinking about this. maybe you could have some sort of roulette wheel/spinner with song names on it, and people from the crowd can spin it to decide what songs you play? is that dumb?

okay, i'll shutup now.

bakesale has the potential of brownies and you dont want craps, game or faeces, to be associated with that. it's just bad for biz. use your head, jenner.
