In my various blog searchings, I came across a true gem earlier today. A Taylor Hicks (of American Idol fame) weblog linked to us! Most of the comments are lukewarm, but it's refreshing to get constructive criticism/praise, rather than unexplained bashing/love. So, I told them so, in a comment of my own. Check it out here. For real.

Plus, lest we forget, that Jen & Andy, the fine folks over at Band in Boston, have posted our live set we cut in early November. Full of quips and what not, I'm sure. Haven't listened yet, but I soon will. Follow the link!

UPDATE: Listening to the podcast, and I'm digging it. I forgot about how many dogs (3) were there and how frequently we referred to them. Without a doubt, the coolest part thus far is the Spanish style guitar solo Mike does in "The Nadir" to compensate for lack of distortion and also Scott's comical voice crack at the end of that song, followed by his own laughter.

I'm the guy who runs that website and personally I love your stuff. That's why I linked to you. Over the last year I've been trying to expose my own "indie heart" to a large group of Taylor Hicks fans.

Most of the bands I feature are quite a bit more mainstream than you guys but I heard your stuff, got the Boston connection (I lived in Central Square for years) and hit the button.

Congrats on the CD release - hope you have great things to come.

here is the very brief fascinating tale. last january i thought "what if i started a website that got a huge amount of traffic and i ran ads" could i make money? not being interested in running a porn site (too much competition) i went for popular culture.

late one night i was flipping channels and the american idol auditions came on. taylor sang "change gonna come" (sam cooke) and "swanee river rock" (ray charles).

well crap i thought, this guy is pretty good and american idol gets what, a bazillion viewers a night?

next day a website was started. long story short - website becomes crazy popular, taylor hicks wins american idol.

weird part of story - taylor and i do an interview after the show is over, click over music and now "viola" i'm working for him running his official blog.

taylor's cd release was today, check it out. i think you'll hear a level of musicianship and craft that you would never expect from a winner of american idol. taylor has been doing this for 15 years so i'm not surprised but maybe you will be. (advertisement over).

Glenn - I'm one of those who came across your link at graycharles. Left a message for you over there in fact.

Y'all (I'm a fellow Texan so I can say that) keep up the good work and keeping following that dream. My husband is an engineer by trade but a frustrated rock star at heart and he and I both were quite impressed with the songs on your my space page. DH's daughter lives in Rhode Island, so the next time you're in Providence or Cranston, I'll tell her to make an effort to see you.

Congratulations on the new CD and here's wishing you more success in 2007.

- Gaynell
